　2011年、3月11日、14:46。東日本大震災が発生した。

地震によって発生した津波で甚大な被害を受けた宮城県名取市閖上に初めて訪れたのは2014年の6月だった。広大な土地には膝丈ほどの家の石垣しか無くなってしまった。その場所には、多くの遺失物が残されていた。それは、スプーン、フォーク、皿、漁具、おもちゃ、仏具などその土地に住む人の生活を想像させるものたちだった。

　2017年の3月に再びここを訪れた時、約５mの盛り土をし、その上に集合住宅を建てる工事が急ピッチで進められていた。2014年にあった遺失物もその大半は、無くなっていた。私は、持ってこれる範囲でこれらを預かり、その「存在」を感光面に焼き付ける仕事を始めた。いつか、持ち主の元に帰れるのではないかと願い、また広島の被爆樹木のような語り部になるのではないかと思っている。

 2011, March 11, 14: 46. The Great East Japan Earthquake occurred.
The area in YURIAGE, Natori, Miyagi prefecture, was devastated by the tsunami.
I went to YURIAGE after the earthquake was June 2014.
I saw only the low stone wall of the house remaining in the vast land. Many lost things were left in that place.
These things are spoon, fork, dish, fishing gear, toy, Buddhist instrument etc. When I saw it, I imagined the life of the people living in this land. I visited YURIAGE again in March of 2017. The development of rebuilding was proceeding, which raised the height of the place where the disaster occurred by about 5 meters and built apartment house on top of it. Most of the lost items that were in 2014 were gone. I kept this lost item in the range that I can bring.And I started making works that burn the "presence" on the photosensitive surface. Someday, I wish I could return to the owner. Moreover, I think that these lost things will become a storyteller like Hiroshima's bombed trees.
