網膜の像

-Image on the retina-

「網膜の像」は、通常の視覚で得られる運動の像とカメラを用いたそれのズレに関心を持った作者が実験的に制作を続ける作品シリーズ。2013年からスタート。  

 

 像は、「まばたきからまばたきの時間」を露光時間とし、デジタルカメラのセンサーを網膜と見立て撮影され得られる。得られた像は、作者の身体運動に伴う環境から情報をピックアップする行為そのものである。

 本作は、ジェームズ・ギブソンの「生態学的視覚論」にインスピレーションを受けて制作。

「生態学的視覚論」は、環境に備わる「価値」や「意味」は、観察者の演繹なしに、直接知覚され、意味は心という孤立した領域にあるわけでなく環境にあり、私たちは常に、環境から意味をピックアップしているというアフォーダンスの考え方の包括的な概念。

  We recognize things in the world by the changing the light which is reflected in the eyeballs.
Though the photograph is the track of the changing the light, an image is stopped and cut by the shutter in the moment,
" Image on the retina" is recognized by blinking of eyelids as we do unconsciously.
The image between blinking is uncertain and not clear. It may sound paradoxical, but I feel a reality of it which is instantaneous like the persistence of action, the throb of the heart, or a memory of a glance, because every phenomenon is composed of the continuity of a moment.
 It is in "Image on the retina" which we recognize of the memory of our lives.
I was inspired 「The Ecological Approach to Visual Perception」 by James Gibson.
